Qudas-Edta (weeks of dedication of the Church) is the last four weeks of the Syro-Malabar liturgical year. They are precisely arranged to have an in-depth heavenly experience for the faithful. Christ the Bride-groom leads His bride the Church to the heavenly bride chamber and offers her to the Father giving her the fullness of heavenly bliss. The church being the sign of heavenly Kingdom here on earth, every time the believer enters it, he/she is invited to such a heavenly experience and sing praises to the Lord in the company of the celestial choirs. Importance of this day Remembrance of Mar Sabor and Mar Proth
Mar Sabor and Mar Proth. Mar Sabor and Mar Proth (Kantheesangal - meaning Saintly ones in Syriac) were two saintly men who reached Kerala along with a group of Christians in AD 824. Some historians believe that the Kollam era or Malayalam Calendar started from the year of their arrival. They built four Churches in Kerala at Akaparambu, Kollam, Kayamkulam and Udayamperoor. As a result of the so-called 'Udayamperoor Sunhados', their names were removed from the liturgical calendar. The meeting commanded that all the churches dedicated to Mar Sabor and Mar Proth should be dedicated to "All Saints". The festivities kept in honour of them were also changed. The Akaparambu Church is famous for its murals.

Prayer of the dayJesus who is close to the broken-hearted and rescues them from all their troubles, though You stand as the High Priest above, by offering Yourself for us, You are present in our midst in the Mystery of Your Church. Guard her with Your grace and protect her with Your commandments, that she may observe all Your will and raise up to You unceasing hymns of glory.
