Weeks of Annunciation (Subara) is the first season of the liturgical year. The Syro-Malabar liturgical year begins with the proclamation and celebration of the historical encounter between God and man in the person of Jesus Christ, the human appearance of the Divine Person. The Syriac word Subara, 'Annunciation', with which the Church qualify the first five or six weeks of her liturgical year, is, in fact, an announcement and proclamation with celebration with this supreme glad news of divine condescension to the human frailty in order to raise it up to the divine sublimity. Prayer of the dayJesus the Illuminator of all, we thank You for emptying Yourself and coming down to our midst to make us sharers in Your divine life. We, too, adore and proclaim Your Glory with Blessed Mary, ever Virgin, Blessed Joseph, the heavenly hosts, the humble shepherds and the three wise men. May we lead a life worthy of the children of God. Help us who are filled with the joy of the Incarnation to incarnate Him in our thoughts and deeds, for we are the flock You have chosen in Your grace and mercy.
