Prayer of the dayJesus the Lord of fragrant vegetables and perfumes, You chose a daughter of Eve to triumph over death, which had come upon mankind through the first Eve. Grant us her motherly protection and help to face our death with great cheer. Purify our souls by a pure Fast; control our bodies by just mortifications; awaken our spirits by our work and vigils, and sanctify our lips by Your praise. In our combat, may we triumph over the evil one and his hosts, and by our confidence in You escape his power. We shall glorify You at all times and seasons.
