During the weeks of Great Fast, the faithful reflect on and meditate over the public life of Jesus and especially on its culmination in his passion, death and burial. Prayer of the dayJesus the Peace of all, You sent Your angel to Joshua and Your people and were present with them through the ark. You helped them to conquer Jericho for You after they turned to You. Help Your Churches to turn fully to You, worshipping in spirit and in truth, and removing the sandals of all sin, that we may win the world for You. We ask You to accept the prayers and requests of Your sinful servants; forgive the sins of our past and keep us from falling into temptation in the days to come. May Your Cross keep Your Churches from evil and its power and be a source of victory and strength, that we may praise You at all times and seasons.
