Mar Yakob Shliha (St James the Greater), apostle and martyr, was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. He was a son of Zebedee and Salome, and brother of Yohannan (John) the Apostle.

Prayer of the dayJesus the True Master, through the intercession of Sliha Mar Yakob, may we continue without faltering and unshaken until our death in the confession of the faith in You. May we always experience Your presence among us as our Lord and our God, and be zealous to bring others to know You as the Apostles did.

Exactly as Jesus was formed in Virgin Mary so too the Church in this world by the Power of the Holy Spirit - those who are led by the Spirit must always be vigilant to root out at the very outset all selfish and individualistic likes and dislikes which topple down our faithfulness to the Church.
