The maturity and fruitfulness of the Church are specially meditated on during the weeks of summer (Qaita). The Syriac word Qaita means "summer". Importance of this day Sliha Mar Bartholomeo
Today we are celebrating the feast of St Bartholomew. The tradition is that he preached in India, Mesopotamia, Parthia and Laconia Eusebius (H.E. 5.10.3) records that Pantaenus, the teacher of clement of Alexandria (ca. 150-215 AD) “went to India, and the tradition is that he there found on his own arrival anticipated by some who were acquainted with the gospel according to Matthew; for Bartholomew, one of the apostles, had preached to them and left them the writing of Matthew in Hebrew letters, and this writing was preserved until the time mentioned.”

Church becomes attractive through her holiness and martyrdom - not through this-worldly achievements - "Blessed are the poor in spirit...Blessed are the merciful...Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven" (Mt 5:3-12)
