The maturity and fruitfulness of the Church are specially meditated on during the weeks of summer (Qaita). The Syriac word Qaita means "summer". The Nativity of Mary reminds us of our unique call and role in life. As the blessed Mother who was born to give birth to the Saviour, we too are here on earth with the task to bear and to share Him in the world and to become a "Mother to the nations"(Gen 17:16) like her.

Church becomes attractive through her holiness and martyrdom - not through this-worldly achievements - "Blessed are the poor in spirit...Blessed are the merciful...Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven" (Mt 5:3-12)
